Peter Hothgarth UKTI

Peter became the International Trade Director for UK Trade & Investment East Midlands in August 2002 after holding a similar position in the North West for the previous two years.

He started work as a buyer in an international trading company in his native Liverpool, developing his sales and marketing experience by taking a hands-on role in all the projects he managed. With particular experience in Africa and the Middle East, Peter learnt to deal with the differing demands of international business. While based in Nigeria and Zimbabwe, he worked as an importer and a distributor.

Richard Casburn HSBC

Richard Casburn has 30 years in International Banking, but only recently joined HSBC in September 2009 as Regional International Commercial Manager. Previous experience has included time as a foreign exchange dealer, documentary credit examiner, sales manager, training manager, contract guarantee specialist, chief cashier for a bank on RMS QEII to name but a few.
The new role is to deliver a professional international business advisory service to customers, prospective customers and professionals.

Miles Rees Intellectual Property Office

Miles Rees is Business Outreach Manager for The Intellectual Property Office. Miles has worked for the Intellectual Property Office for nineteen years, spending a significant proportion of this time specialising in the examination of Trade Marks and hearing appeals against their refusal. Miles moved to the Business Outreach & Education team in 2005 and is primarily responsible for raising awareness of intellectual property amongst UK businesses, with special emphasis on SMEs. He regularly speaks about intellectual property at business exhibitions, workshops and has been interviewed about intellectual property by a number of national radio stations.

Andrew Shipley
Andrew is a partner in the litigation department at Roythorne's Solicitors. He is a solicitor advocate and has over 15 years experience handling commercial disputes. Much of the work Andrew does and that of the teams he supervises has an international element. Andrew has worked and travelled extensively overseas. He was the chief executive of a large European network of accountants and lawyers for 3 years and also spent 4 years working in the South Pacific, two of them as a judge. He is a keen supporter of international initiatives from his home region of the East Midlands and has been a director on the board of emita since 2005.

Keith Lambourne

Keith Lambourne, Export Director of the ACO Group & Chairman of the Global Trade Network has been involved with the construction industry for 45 years, 32 years internationally. His involvement in International business with ACO over the past 19 years is in the role of market development and sales as Export Director with ACO International part of the ACO Group. Over the last thirty two years he has been directly involved in visiting, developing and servicing more than 60 of the world’s markets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Australasia and North America. An experienced speaker at international focus events, currently Keith is a member of the Construction Sector Advisory Group run by UKTI and is Chairman of the Global Trade Network ( GTN ).

Perl Cole Cheiron

Pearl Cole is the managing director and lead consultant at Cheiron BRC Ltd. She has extensive experience working with international clients. Originally from the United States, she has lived and worked in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and traveled throughout Europe and to the Middle East. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Norfolk State University in Virginia, USA. She also has Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from Schiller International University in Paris, France and an MBA in International Business from Schiller International University in London, UK.

With over 15 years experience in across various IT sectors, Sam specialises in services that support and enhance the consumer experience when dealing with business applications. He organises strategic workshops with Microsoft, leads a worldwide interest group all of which can be followed on his blog.

Mike Strawson

Mike’s career in International Trade spans 50 years. He has worked in both the UK and overseas for large and small businesses. His overseas experience includes acting as an Export Salesman, Buyer for importers, Managing stands at International Exhibitions, Joint Venture discussions, Seeking and appointing Agents and Distributors and trouble shooting. He has also run a small factory where 90% of the output was exported.
For the last 13 years he has run The Export Trainer Ltd, delivering training and consultancy to a wide range of companies and institutions. These include the British Government, major British Banks, UK and Overseas Chambers of Commerce, Eurochambres, Universities in UK and Iran, Professional Institutions in UK, France, Malaysia and Singapore. He is of course a trainer for the Institute of Export. He is co-author and editor of an Import Guide and a contributor to an Export Guide. This breadth and depth of experience is incorporated into all his presentations.

Lisa Baldwin Best Network Asia
